ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notice to the Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) in a case regarding write off loans by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and formation of policy in this regard.
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and comprising Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Faisal Arab heard the case.
During the course of proceedings, Advocate Salman Akram Raja, counsel for the Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL), appeared before the bench and stated that State Bank’s loan write off policy affected the financial institutions of the country.
Justice Azmat Saeed remarked that as it was a policy matter so it was necessary to hear a law officer for the stance of the federal government. The court issued notice to the AGP and adjourned hearing of the case till first week of June.
