ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police have operationalised the police communication system – Islamabad Capital Territory Police Communication System (ICTPOLCOM) – with the complete data of police stations with effect from January 1, 2016 inserted in this system, the police source said here on Tuesday.
Police sources said that further record was also being updated in the system. ICTPOLCOM would have the complete data of daily registered crime cases, record of criminals from the day of their arrest and release and departmental history of all police officials and employees.
The system ICTPOLCOM has been completed in only 47 days, after it was assigned to the Inspector General (IG) of Police Tariq Masood Yasin to develop this integrated system soon after the assuming charge of IGP office.
He said that this was the modern system in policing history of Pakistan and it would have complete data of police operations on a day to day basis. He informed that on daily basis, the data of each police station was being incorporated. The IGP Islamabad, deputy inspector general (DIG), senior superintendent of police (SSP) Operations, Zonal superintendents of police (SPs), station house officers (SHOs) and police operators would be able to access this data round the clock even on their smart phones, laptops and personal computers.
This system has complete security features and anyone trying to access it wrongly would be traced through generation of a computerised message. The information technology (IT) section has been also directed to train the officers not using this system and acquaint them very well about this modern technique, the police source said. He also said that this system would be very helpful for effective policing and any reported deficiency in this system would be tackled.
