ISLAMABAD: Out of the eight private members’ bills introduced in the Senate on Monday, seven were referred to the concerned standing committees and the remaining one was deferred.
Bills included the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University Islamabad (Amendment) Bill, the Right to Information Bill, the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues (Amendment) Bill, the Juvenile Justice System (Amendment) Bill, the Islamabad Prohibition of Expressing Matters on Walls Bill, the National Commission for International Law and Commitments Bill, the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, and the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (Amendment) Bill – introduced by Senators Sardar Azam Khan Musakhel, Kamil Ali Agha, Azam Khan Swati, Karim Ahmed Khawaja, Zaheerud Din Awan and Nuzhat Sadiq.
State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD), Tariq Fazl Chaudhary, while opposing a bill moved by Sardar Azam Khan, said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had already approved the summary to segregate the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) from Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University and the summary was already sent to the ‘Law Division’ to propose necessary amendments.
The Senate’s chairman deferred the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues (Amendment) Bill and referred other bills to the concerned committees for further deliberation.
