SHIKARPUR: The Special Education for Blind Centre organized a programme on Saturday to observe World Disabled Day. Umair Ahmed Memon, the Mukhtiarkar Khanpur, was the chief guest in the program. Speaking on the occasion, Umair Ahmed Memon and Iqbal Ahmed Bhutto, the Principal of the Centre said that disabled persons needed special attention and it was government’s responsibility to provide special care and opportunities to them. They said that the government in 1980s had formulated some education and employment policies for the disables to bring them in the fold of workforce. Those policies should be implemented in letter and spirit, they added. Further, the Government of Sindh was also trying to provide facilities to disabled persons and the civil society should come forward to support the people who deserve care and security, they maintained.
