LAHORE: Around 25 fire trucks took part
in extinguishing a fire that raged in Lahore’s Anarkali bazaar on Saturday morning.
At least two people were injured and more than a dozen shops were burned down early Saturday morning, as a blaze swept through the third floor of a building in Lahore`s Anarkali bazaar.
The injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital im
mediately, told the rescue sources adding that the fire occurred in a plaza of Guddi Bazar at Ganpat road, later it spread out to surrounding warehouses and seven nearby buildings.
As many as 10 fire brigade vans of rescue 1122 and local district administration are being used to douse the fire, however ev
en after five hours the personnel has not been able to extinguish it. The local administration has suspended power supply in the area to avoid any u
nforeseen in
cident.
Rescue workers claim that the observation on the ground suggests that the fire broke out because of a short circuit.
Speaking to media, the owners of plaza have alleged that they have lost goods worth million of rupees as the fire brigade and rescue personnel did not reach the site of the in
